Awkunanaw Enlightenment Foundation, Inc. ("Awkulite") is the umbrella organization of Graduates of Awkunanaw origin; both at home and in the Diaspora.

Awkunanaw is a clan which spreads across Enugu South and Nkanu-West Local Government Areas of Enugu State in Nigeria. Founded in 1995 as mainstream Graduates Associates, it was co-founded and co-sponsored by some Pioneer Members like BARR. GEO-JACKSON EGBO, EMMA ONYEKACHI OGBODO (Amechi Awkunanaw), CHIEF CHINYEAKA OHAA, ENGR. CHARLES NGENE (Obuoffia Awkunanaw), DR. OSITA OGBU NNAMANI, AMECHI UGWU, BARR. SAM A. OKOH (Amodu Awkunanaw), BARR. IKECHUKWU ONAH, MONDAY AFAM OGBODO, DENNIS OGBU (Ugwuaji Awkunanaw), FRIDAY OGBODO - OKO, CHINEDU UGWU, AUGUSTINE I. NWOBODO, JUDE O. ANI (Akegbe-ugwu Awkunanaw), CYPRAIN EGBO, IFEANYI ECBO (Obeagu Awkunanaw), MADUEKE NSUDE and BARR. GODWIN I. NGENE (Umueze Awkunanaw).

Corporate Information

These Pioneer members nurtured the Organization from the cradles; through early take-off-stage of scouting or soliciting for membership; drawing and defining the Association's charter, aims and objectives to sometime in 1996, when it was officially registered with the Government of Enugu state of Nigeria; originally as voluntary "Youth Association" or body of Graduates for purposes of harnessing; aggregating and articulating or channeling generally academic Youth resources towards participatory community development initiatives in Awkunanaw clan.

Inaugurated officially at an impressive occasion of its first ever "National Graduates Conference" held on 11th August 1996 at Mac-Royal Hotels Uwani Enugu, under the distinguished Chairmanship of Hon. Justice J.C.N. Ugwu and Chief Ken Nnamani (Owa- Enugu); as the Chief Launcher and Dr. Godwin C. Nsude, then of Federal university of Technology, Mina; as "Inugural Guest Lecturer"; "Awkulite" was later incorporated under Part C of Company and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 1990, as body corporate with perpetual succession; and aims essentially at creating veritable ground or conducive platform for the Awkunanaw intellectuals or intelligentsia class to interact or socialize, with a view to inter alia promoting, or propagating the ideals or ethos of functional education, inculcating in members the noble habits of positive consciousness for leadership excellence, to foster friendship, unity, inter or intra- communal harmony, or mutual understanding; by according members group solidarity and or material supports in terms of social needs.
